Garlic Experiment Update

Hi everyone. So it has been 16 days since I started this little experiment. Here are some data that I’ve collected. I will not be showing any nail photos today.

These 2 graphs show everyday measurements.

I’ve been having a lot of problems with my right index finger as it keeps flaking and today it broke on the nail line left side. I don’t know whether to keep going with this experiment and state my findings or to keep going for the remaining month. I can clearly state that if I stop right now, I won’t have any conclusive evidence. I believe that the use of garlic on nails gives a temporary effect of stronger nails therefore garlic has to be used religiously to keep nails hard but I have no way of measuring this without a force gauge and more time. I can conclude that garlic use makes minimal difference in nail growth with evidence in graphs 3 and 4.

So I hope this experiment helps a bit. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful evening!

Update on garlic experiment

Good afternoon all! Today’s I’ve nothing much to share with you. Just a quick update on the DIY GP. So I left it on overnight. It took a full 24 hours for the smell to finally dissipate. I already took it off and applied my fresh garlic but I took photos (not that it’ll help anyways) for reference. I will update on my garlic experiment as well.

I noticed I should’ve taken a photo in the same position every day instead of random photos. I will start that after the 14th day. And some data for you.

I will put up graphs at the end of the experiment. Everything will be finalized until that day as well. I hope you enjoyed today’s post. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Update on DIY Garlic polish

Hi all. I just wanted to drop a note about the garlic polish I made. The smell took about 6 hours to drop to a tolerable level. If I put my nails to my nose, I can smell it but it’s not as bad as when I first used it. I really can’t describe this smell to you. It will depend on brands due to different ingredients. If you do this, keep yourself busy and the smell will be as if it’s not even there! I hope you try it and drop me a note about your opinion! Thanks for reading and good night!

DIY Strengthening nail polish

What you’ll need: clove or 2 of garlic and clear nail polish.

I minced the garlic and placed it inside my polish. I used Revlon Top Coat since I hardly use it. The garlic has been sitting there for at least a few weeks now.

Nothing wrong with application or drying time but it sure as heck STINKS! Since I washed off my earlier application of fresh garlic juice, I will apply this to my left nails in my experiment as well. Holy moly it stinks though if it’s close enough to your face.

I wonder if this can substitute every day application of fresh garlic? Curiouser and curiouser…

Day 6 Garlic Experiment

Hi everyone. So I’m just going to update you all on my experiment. It’s not the 7th day yet but I have photos and data I wanted to share. So yeah. I’ll just get to it.

Day 3 LH (Excuse the garlic particles on my hands!)

For some reason I didn’t take any photos of my right hand from day 2 to day 4.

I recorded some data today which will include increase/decrease difference between day 1 and day 6 in parentheses.

LH (inches)

  • LT – between 1/2 and 9/16 (+1/64)
  • LI – 9/16 (+1/32)
  • LM – 17/32 (no difference)
  • LR – 9/16 (+1/32)
  • LP – 7/16 (no difference)

RH (inches)

  • RT – between 1/2 and 17/32 (+1/64)
  • RI – 17/32 (+1/32)
  • RM – between 1/2 and 17/32 (+1/64)
  • RR – 17/32 (no difference)
  • RP – 1/2 (+1/32)

Right now the data is amazing. There’s more growth on the control group than the test. I can’t wait for the month to pass to see if garlic does make a difference in nail growth and strengthening. Hope you enjoyed today’s post. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Time for a little experiment!

So as you probably heard that rubbing garlic on your nails is suppose to strengthen them and make them grow faster. So I’ve heard but I’ve never seen the results, the photos nor the data providing conclusive evidence. I’ve searched far and wide throughout the internet, hoping that some blogger or scientist like me recorded some data to prove this improvement in nail structure. So it got me thinking as the scientist I am, I should do my own little experiment.

My control will be my right hand and I will test the garlic on my left hand. Once a week or daily depending on how much time I have, I will record measurements from each individual nail from the cuticle up to the end. I will also include other factors such as biotin and vitamin pills that I recently started taking on a weekly basis and they will be noted as well as photographs on a weekly/daily basis. Of course other factors include my diet, what I am doing with my hands, etc. that may influence my nail growth. However, the only thing I am doing to my left is adding garlic so my lifestyle will not change. I’m so excited for the experiment and I hope you enjoy it too!

I take half a Centrum Women’s Multivitamin which in a whole pill contains 800 IU vitaminD, 40mcg biotin and 500mg calcium; caltrate 600mg calcium and 400 IU vitaminD; and biotin 1000mcg. I do not take the vitamins daily. I will take half of one pill and in 2 days time or more, take half of another pill.  For example, if I take half of the multivitamin on Monday, I will wait until Wednesday/Thursday to take half the caltrate then again wait another 2-3 days time to take the multivitamin again. I will take biotin every day.

So I have cleaned my nails, pushed back my cuticles and measured each one. I have also taken half a caltrate and a biotin pill.

Right hand (inches)

  • Thumb (T) – 1/2
  • Index (I) – 1/2
  • Middle (M) – 17/32
  • Ring (R) – 17/32
  • Pinky (P) – 15/32

ImageImage

Left hand (inches)

  • T – 17/32
  • I – 17/32
  • M – 17/32
  • R – 17/32
  • P – 7/16

ImageImage

Yes they are sadly stained. That is what I get for not using a base coat. I’ve yet to find my HG. I have already rubbed some garlic on my left hand and will keep it for at least an hour. I have a notebook which I will record my data so no worries if I leave anything out. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!

Frankened Polish!!!

Hi everyone. It’s been a while since my last post but I am excited to share with you all my newly frankened polish. I’d describe it as a deep dark holographic olive color in natural sunlight. It constantly changes in different angles and light though.

ImageImage

I wish the holographic effect was more linear but I think I did a great job overall. What do you think of this polish? Thanks for reading!
